Otterly.ai is an AI-search visibility tracker that runs the prompts you choose across AI answer engines on a schedule, then reports whether your brand is mentioned and which of your pages are cited. Independent reviewers place it as the cheapest credible option in the category: from $29 a month it monitors four engines with fast, clean setup. This is a meta-review, not a hands-on test. We pinned every price to Otterly's own pricing page, read the independent reviews in full, and checked ratings against fetchable aggregators, then issued a verdict from that evidence.

What Otterly.ai is

Otterly.ai is an AI-search monitoring, or generative engine optimization, platform. You define the search prompts that matter to your business, and Otterly reruns them across the AI engines you enable, stores the history, and turns it into a brand-visibility view plus citation and share-of-voice reports. Independent reviewers describe it consistently: AI Tools Bakery calls it plainly "an AI search monitoring platform," and Marco Diversi describes how Otterly captures "the full AI-generated response, logs which domains were cited, and records whether you showed up" across answer engines. The recurring theme is that Otterly is the accessible, budget end of the category rather than the enterprise leader. This is a meta-review: we did not test Otterly hands-on. We verify pricing and features at the vendor's live pages and aggregate independent reporting.

Which AI engines it tracks

Four engines are included on every plan: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Google Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons. This is where framing differs. Vendor listings and software directories market Otterly as covering six AI engines by counting the add-ons, while independent reviewers count four included on every plan with the rest charged separately. Marco Diversi confirms that ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot are included on all tiers, including the $29 Lite tier (12 July 2026). DIY AI makes the same point, noting the entry plan "includes only 15 prompts and four AI engines, while Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons" (28 July 2026). The practical point the independent reviewers make is the same: two of the most-wanted engines are not in the base price, so real coverage costs more than the headline plan.

Who it is for

Independent sources converge here. Marco Diversi says the tool suits "a solo operator, creator, or small marketing team that wants a clean, shared view" of AI-search visibility, particularly those who value simplicity over wide engine coverage (12 July 2026). AI Tools Bakery says Otterly "is for the team taking its first serious step into AI search visibility," and frames the fit plainly: "If you are a startup, a small in-house marketing team, or an agency that needs to start measuring brand presence across AI answers this week, on a budget, with no procurement overhead, Otterly is the easiest yes in the category" (1 July 2026). The consistent read: lean SEO teams and agencies that want to start monitoring AI search without enterprise procurement, not large teams that need deep coverage or automated fixes.

Where it falls short

The critical points are consistent across the independent reviews. First, it measures but does not fix: AI Tools Bakery sums it up as "it tells you what, not how" (1 July 2026), and DIY AI says it is "stronger at measurement than execution" (28 July 2026). DIY AI is an affiliate-supported review site that discloses it may earn a commission on Otterly signups; we cite it for its criticism, not its purchase recommendation, and exclude any of its comparative claims. Second, results are unproven against revenue: DIY AI states flatly that "Visibility changes do not prove revenue impact" (28 July 2026). Third, cost scales sharply: extra prompts run $99 per 100 on Otterly's own pricing page, and DIY AI flags "cost expansion," noting that adding all seven engines raises Lite from $29 to about $76 a month. Prompt caps and the paid engines are the practical ceiling for multi-market tracking.

How it compares to Profound

Profound is the enterprise-leaning rival in this category. Pinned to Profound's own pricing page on 26 August 2026, its Starter plan is $99 a month with ChatGPT tracking only and 50 prompts tracked, and its Growth plan is $399 a month for 100 prompts tracked across three answer engines. Against that, Otterly's $29 Lite tier covers four engines but only 15 prompts, while its $189 Standard tier gives 100 prompts across four engines. So Otterly wins clearly on entry price and engine breadth at the bottom of the range, while Profound offers more prompts at its Starter entry and more depth at the top, where its Enterprise tier lists up to nine answer engines. Independent roundups place Profound as the deeper, pricier option and Otterly as the affordable starting point, which matches the pricing on both vendors' pages. What reviewers and users report

The independent reviewers score Otterly in the same band: AI Tools Bakery rates it 4.1 out of 5 (1 July 2026), and Generate More, an AEO services agency whose conflict we note and whose service-versus-Otterly comparisons we exclude, scored the tool 3.3 out of 5 (8 October 2025). On the fetchable aggregators, OMR Reviews displays 4.8 from 55 reviews, verified at source (26 August 2026), and Product Hunt shows 5.0 from just two reviews, a sample small enough that we weight it lightly (26 August 2026). G2 displays 4.8 as well, but G2 blocks automated checks, so we cite it as displayed only, corroborated by the fetchable OMR figure, and never as a verbatim user quote.

The verified user voices are few and mixed. A hands-on reviewer at Generate More found onboarding easy, "I found it to be straightforward. The initial setup has 4 steps, and it's AI-assisted," but added a readability caveat: "Still, after a few hours using it, I find the number of table charts to be a lot, and there are some that I still need to fully understand what they mean" (8 October 2025). On Product Hunt, early users called it "the Industry-first content / brand monitoring for AI searches (Google, ChatGPT, PerplexityAI)" and, more plainly, "Wow. Didn't think of LLMs that way. But makes a lot of sense!" (accessed 26 August 2026).

Two honest disagreements sit under the ratings. On engine count, vendor listings market six engines by counting the paid add-ons, while the independent reviewers count four included and the rest charged separately; we lead with the four included, matching Otterly's own pricing page. On the aggregate rating, some secondary write-ups describe an OMR score of 5.0, while the currently fetchable OMR page shows 4.8 from 55 reviews; we use the most recent fetchable figure and treat the 5.0 mentions as older or secondary.
