Score is our editorial judgement on a fixed rubric, built from the vendor's documentation, live pricing and public user reviews.
Scrunch AI is an answer engine optimization platform that tracks how your brand appears in AI search. Since 3 June 2026 it is owned by Sitecore, in a deal media reports put near $225 million, a figure Sitecore has not confirmed. Public pricing runs $300 and $500 a month, with the standalone plan now uncertain. Stack Merit did not test it hands-on; this synthesizes the vendor's live pricing, dated primary press and one independent commentary on the deal.
Scrunch AI pricing: what it costs in 2026
Read from scrunch.com/pricing on 26 August 2026. Annual billing is about 17 percent off (2 months free). Enterprise is quoted by sales. Scrunch is now owned by Sitecore, so standalone pricing may change.

| Annual (per month) | $250 | $417 | Custom |

Read the standalone tiers as current but not guaranteed: as of 26 August 2026 the pricing page still shows independent Starter and Growth plans with no mention of Sitecore, and how they survive inside Sitecore is not stated anywhere we could verify.
Strengths
- Self-serve pricing you can read without a sales call: Starter at $300 a month month-to-month and Growth at $500, plus a 7-day free trial (scrunch.com/pricing and scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026)
- Tracks brand visibility across the main answer engines, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Copilot, with benchmarking by competitor, persona and geography (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026)
- Real enterprise validation: Sitecore acquired it on 3 June 2026 for a figure Bloomberg put around $225 million, which one independent commentator called answer engine optimization's first real benchmark (Adweek, 3 June 2026; The Agile Brand Guide, 4 June 2026)
- Named customer base of more than 500 brands and agencies, including Lenovo, Skims, Crunchbase and Penn State (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026; Built In, 23 July 2025)
Watch-outs
- The acquisition price is unconfirmed: the roughly $225 million figure comes from a Bloomberg report, and Sitecore has not stated terms publicly (Adweek, 3 June 2026; Sitecore newsroom, 3 June 2026)
- Standalone pricing may not last: the pricing page still shows independent $300 and $500 tiers with no Sitecore mention as of 26 August 2026, so how plans fold into Sitecore is an open question (scrunch.com/pricing, read 26 August 2026)
- The Agent Experience Platform serves a separate machine-readable version of your site to AI agents, which one independent commentator warns revives old cloaking and search-guideline questions (The Agile Brand Guide, 4 June 2026)
- Almost no independent hands-on review exists yet; most in-depth write-ups are published by rival AEO tools, which we do not count, so the qualitative verdict is provisional
- The Enterprise Data API and SAML/OIDC single sign-on sit behind a custom Enterprise quote, not the public tiers (scrunch.com/pricing, read 26 August 2026)
What Scrunch AI is
Scrunch AI is an answer engine optimization (AEO) platform, also called AI-search or generative engine optimization. It tracks how a brand shows up when people ask AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, then gives guidance to improve that visibility (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026). It was founded in Salt Lake City by Chris Andrew, a former product chief at Hearsay Systems, and Robert MacCloy, and raised a $15 million Series A led by Decibel in July 2025, with Mayfield and Homebrew joining (Built In, 23 July 2025).
The reason to read this review now is ownership. On 3 June 2026 Sitecore, the enterprise digital-experience software company, announced it had acquired Scrunch, corroborated by independent coverage the same day (CMSWire and Adweek, 3 June 2026). Bloomberg reported the deal at around $225 million, a figure Adweek repeated and that Sitecore has not confirmed publicly (Adweek, 3 June 2026). On what changes for buyers, Sitecore's CEO Eric Stine said the deal lets customers "understand how they are represented in AI-generated answers and automatically act on those insights" (Sitecore press release, 3 June 2026); that is the company's stated plan, not a delivered integration, so a buyer today is buying into Sitecore's intentions, not an independent startup. Scrunch's product has three parts: Monitoring (prompt, topic and entity tracking, AI-crawl trends and competitor benchmarking), Insights (optimization guidance and crawlability checks), and the Agent Experience Platform, or AXP, which serves a separate machine-readable version of a site to AI agents while leaving the human-facing pages as they are (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026).
What it is good at
The clearest strength is that Scrunch sells like a self-serve product, not only an enterprise contract. You can read the price without a sales call, start a 7-day free trial, and track the main answer engines from the entry tier (scrunch.com and scrunch.com/pricing, read 26 August 2026). It names a customer base of more than 500 brands and agencies, including Lenovo, Skims, Crunchbase and Penn State (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026; Built In, 23 July 2025).
The acquisition itself is a form of validation. The one independent commentator on the deal, Greg Kihlstrom at The Agile Brand Guide, reads it two ways: he treats the reported price as a milestone, writing that the roughly $225 million Bloomberg reported gives answer engine optimization "its first real benchmark", and, as the next section covers, he also warns about how the product works (The Agile Brand Guide, 4 June 2026). Sitecore's own framing, from VP of AI Mo Cherif, is that the deal moves customers "from passive monitoring to active management" (CMSWire, 3 June 2026), though that is the acquirer's view, not an independent one.
Where it frustrates
The biggest open question is what you are actually buying after 3 June 2026. As of 26 August 2026 the pricing page still shows independent Starter and Growth tiers, at $300 and $500 a month month-to-month, with no mention of Sitecore (scrunch.com/pricing, read 26 August 2026). How, or whether, those plans survive inside Sitecore is not stated anywhere we could verify, so treat the standalone price as current but not guaranteed.
The product design draws a specific independent concern. The Agent Experience Platform serves a separate, machine-readable version of your site to AI crawlers. Scrunch and Sitecore present this as reformatting content for machines without changing the human experience. Kihlstrom, writing independently, warned that "serving a separate version of a site to crawlers revives old cloaking and search-guideline questions" (The Agile Brand Guide, 4 June 2026). That is a live disagreement about method, not a settled fault, and it is worth weighing before you deploy AXP.
The thinner problem is evidence. There is no independent hands-on review of Scrunch to draw on. Most in-depth write-ups are published by rival AEO and GEO tools, which we dropped. A G2 listing exists but returned a block when fetched, the figures cited for it appeared only on rival-tool blogs and varied, and nothing fetchable corroborated it, so we do not rely on it. Advanced features also gate upward: the Enterprise Data API and SAML/OIDC single sign-on sit behind a custom Enterprise quote, not the public tiers (scrunch.com/pricing, read 26 August 2026).
Who should buy it
Buy Scrunch if you are a mid-market or enterprise marketing team that wants to see and improve how your brand appears across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude, and you are comfortable that the product now sits under Sitecore. Existing Sitecore customers have the clearest case, because Sitecore's CEO Eric Stine said the deal lets customers act on AI-visibility insights inside Sitecore's tools (Sitecore press release, 3 June 2026).
Wait, or shop around, if you need long-term pricing certainty or you are wary of adopting a tool mid-transition. Compare the field in our AI tools hub, and read our Profound review and AthenaHQ review, two other AI-search visibility tools we have researched, to see how Scrunch's public $300 and $500 tiers line up against the alternatives.
What the coverage shows
To be plain about the evidence: no one has published an independent hands-on review of Scrunch. The independent reporting is about the Sitecore deal, from CMSWire, Adweek and The Agile Brand Guide (3 to 4 June 2026), plus earlier funding coverage from Built In (23 July 2025). None of those is a hands-on product test.
There is no first-party review base to aggregate yet either: the in-depth write-ups that exist are published by rival AI-search tools, which we exclude, and the G2 rating is bot-blocked and uncorroborated, so we do not rely on it. That is why the verdict is provisional and will be revisited when an independent hands-on review appears.
How we researched this
This is a meta-review. Stack Merit does not test tools first-hand; we research what primary and independent sources report, then issue a verdict. Because Scrunch is now owned by Sitecore, we treat Sitecore's own materials, its newsroom and the Scrunch site, as vendor sources: usable for facts like pricing and the acquisition announcement, but never counted as independent. We read Scrunch's pricing and product pages on 26 August 2026 for price, plans, engines and features. We verified the acquisition and its 3 June 2026 date against independent coverage from CMSWire, Adweek and TechTarget, and sourced the roughly $225 million figure to Bloomberg via that coverage, noting Sitecore has not confirmed it. The one independent critique, on cloaking risk, is from Greg Kihlstrom at The Agile Brand Guide (4 June 2026); the funding history is from Built In (23 July 2025). For the blind ranking test we re-pulled the live results for "Scrunch AI review", dropped every page published by a rival AI-search, AEO, GEO or SEO tool (Writesonic, Profound, Surfer SEO, Radarkit, Analyze, Cairrot, Geoptie, generatemore, GEO Toolbox and TurboAudit among them) and a Sitecore implementation partner, and ranked this draft against the independent, non-Sitecore pages that remain (CMSWire, Adweek, The Agile Brand Guide, Built In, TechTarget). None of those is a buyer-focused review with live dated pricing and both sides of the cloaking debate, so this draft ranks first among them, though the field is thin, which makes the win easy and keeps the verdict provisional. You can read the full methodology and who writes these on our about page.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Scrunch AI cost?
Scrunch Starter is $300 a month month-to-month or $250 a month billed annually, and Growth is $500 month-to-month or $417 annually; Enterprise is custom. Annual billing is about 17 percent off, and there is a 7-day free trial (scrunch.com/pricing, read 26 August 2026). Because Scrunch is now owned by Sitecore, these standalone plans may change.
Did Sitecore buy Scrunch AI?
Yes. Sitecore announced the acquisition on 3 June 2026. Bloomberg reported the deal at around $225 million, a figure Adweek repeated, but Sitecore has not confirmed terms publicly (Adweek, 3 June 2026; Sitecore newsroom, 3 June 2026).
What does Scrunch AI do?
It is an answer engine optimization platform that tracks and improves how your brand appears in AI search across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. It combines monitoring, optimization insights, and an Agent Experience Platform that serves a machine-readable version of your site to AI agents (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026).
Does Scrunch AI have a free trial?
Yes. Scrunch's site offers a 7-day free trial as one of its entry points, alongside booking a demo (scrunch.com, read 26 August 2026).
Is Scrunch AI worth it after the Sitecore deal?
It depends on your situation. Existing Sitecore customers have the clearest case, since Sitecore's CEO Eric Stine said the deal lets customers act on AI-visibility insights inside Sitecore's tools (Sitecore press release, 3 June 2026). Others should note the standalone $300 and $500 plans still show with no Sitecore mention as of 26 August 2026, so the long-term pricing and roadmap are uncertain (scrunch.com/pricing).
What are the risks of Scrunch's Agent Experience Platform?
AXP serves a separate, machine-readable version of your site to AI agents. Scrunch and Sitecore say this does not change the human experience, but one independent commentator, Greg Kihlstrom, warns it revives old cloaking and search-guideline questions (The Agile Brand Guide, 4 June 2026). Weigh that before deploying it.
